Africa 200 2025: Banking sector drives value of top 200 African brands

New data from Brand Finance reveals that South Africa dominates regional rankings, contributing 71% of total brand value.


Key highlights include:

  • 48 banking brands contribute 31% of total brand value of the top 200 most valuable African brands at USD17.7 billion
  • With a brand value of USD2.9 billion, South Africa’s MTN is the most valuable African brand, while Capitec emerges as fastest-growing African brand, almost doubling in brand value
  • Strongest 20 brands in Africa achieve AAA+ ratings, led by Checkers, Tusker, and Clicks
