Brand Finance

David is the Chairman and CEO of Brand Finance Plc – the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy. He has worked in the area of branded business, brand, and intangible asset valuation since 1991. He specialised entirely in the field after becoming the Director of Brand Valuation for Interbrand in 1995. He subsequently left Interbrand in 1996 to launch Brand Finance which is celebrating 25 years in business this year.

David represented the British Standards Institution in the working parties responsible for crafting international industry standards: ISO 10668 on Brand Valuation in 2010 and ISO 20671 on Brand Evaluation in 2019.

David is a passionate writer and has authored many articles on brand valuation, published in numerous marketing and finance newspapers and magazines, such as: Financial Times, Accountancy Age, and Marketing Week. He has also lectured on the topic of brand valuation for Harvard, Chicago, and London Business Schools.

David graduated from Bristol University with an English degree, qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in London, and obtained a postgraduate diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). He is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and has a practising certificate with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

General the Lord Richard Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL

Richard Dannatt was a soldier for forty years concluding his military career as Chief of the General Staff – the professional head of the British Army. Since retiring from active duty in 2009, he has been Constable of the Tower of London and in 2011 became an independent member of the House of Lords. He is a frequent commentator on defence and security issues in the media.  He was the founder Chairman of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Durham Global Security Institute which focuses on conflict prevention through the integration of defence, diplomacy and development. He is also on a number of other boards in the private and charitable sectors, and holds several other appointments including President of Help for Heroes, and for many years was a Trustee of the Windsor Leadership Trust.  He divides his time between London and his family home in Norfolk where he is a Deputy Lieutenant for both counties.  He published his autobiography: “Leading from the Front” in 2010, and a second book: “Boots on the Ground – Britain and her Army since 1945” will be published in autumn 2016. He is married with four children, and six grandchildren.

Peter is a senior banker with over twenty years experience with Barclays and Citigroup in London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. He trained as a Chartered Accountant, becoming a partner with Coopers & Lybrand in 1993 before joining Salomon Brothers Asia, as regional CFO.  Following a series of acquisitions and mergers he then served as CFO for Citigroup’s Corporate and Investment Banking division in New York and London.  He led the recovery of Citigroup’s banking operations in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, helping to stabilise the US banking system in a time of great turbulence. Peter joined Barclays in 2008 as Group Financial Controller and has been CFO of the Retail & Business Banking and Non-Core divisions as well as Acting Group CFO. He is currently Barclay’s Senior Advisor in London. Over the past 15 years he has set up and overseen banking and finance operations in India and South Africa. Peter serves on the Audit Committee of HM Treasury and was latterly a Commissioner of the London Fairness Commission and Chairman of the British Airways International Advisory Board. He is actively involved with several education and financial inclusion charities, mainly in the UK, Africa and Asia. He was born in Portsmouth to a Royal Naval family and was educated at King Edward’s Witley and the University of Bristol, where he currently serves on the Ethics Committee. Peter was Sheriff of the City of London in 2016/17, is Master of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers and will be, subject to election, the 691st Lord Mayor of the City of London in 2018.
