David is the Chairman and CEO of Brand Finance Plc – the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy. He has worked in the area of branded business, brand, and intangible asset valuation since 1991. He specialised entirely in the field after becoming the Director of Brand Valuation for Interbrand in 1995. He subsequently left Interbrand in 1996 to launch Brand Finance which is celebrating 25 years in business this year.
David represented the British Standards Institution in the working parties responsible for crafting international industry standards: ISO 10668 on Brand Valuation in 2010 and ISO 20671 on Brand Evaluation in 2019.
David is a passionate writer and has authored many articles on brand valuation, published in numerous marketing and finance newspapers and magazines, such as: Financial Times, Accountancy Age, and Marketing Week. He has also lectured on the topic of brand valuation for Harvard, Chicago, and London Business Schools.
David graduated from Bristol University with an English degree, qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in London, and obtained a postgraduate diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). He is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and has a practising certificate with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Thomas Backteman is one of Sweden's most admired and skilled communication advisers. He has worked with some major brands both in functional roles but also as a senior adviser on communication and transaction due diligence. He was also the former Head of Affairs at Swedbank, and in that position he was awarded numerous prices as one of Sweden's absolute best communicators.
Sven Bergvall has a unique background as a Brand Researcher fellow from KTH where he took his PhD on the photo elicitation technique - ‘Through the mirror: Perspectives of Brand Heritage’. The last six years Sven has been the Brand Performance manager for Ericsson managing all global perception based research. By consistency and unique Market intelligence system, Ericsson has become a worldwide brand within high tech.
Petter began his career as one of the first so called ”Påläggskalvar” within the Kinnevik group. Thereafter Petter has hold numerous C-suite appointments at MTG, OMD and Unibet. He is currently the Global CEO of Universum, the employer branding currency of the world. Petter is a leading authority on talent management and a sought after speaker on the war of talent.
Alexander has over 15 years’ experience in Brand Strategy, Brand Valuation and Brand Equity Research. He holds master degrees in Statistics and Financial economics and a minor in Marketing. He has primarily been focused on Mono brands in the Banking, Retail, Utility, Insurance and Travel industry. He has been conducting consultancy work for all top-tier brands across these industries both domestically and internationally. Alexander has written several books on brand valuation and brand strategy. He is a leading expert on the ISO 10 668 framework. He is also a well-known educator on brand valuation according to ISO 10 668 both in the academic and commercial scene.
Jon graduated with two majors: Accounting & Finance and Marketing from Stockholm School of Economics. He has an extensive background as an editor, being an Editor-in-chief in 1990 for Finanstidningen for 10 years, Managing Editor for Stockholm News. He then became a manager and head of the financial communications team, specialising in financial communication and media relations for Sweden’s leading PR consultancy, JKL. He is now the Editor-in-Chief in Affärsvärlden since 2006.
