In response to the accelerating global energy transition efforts, PetroChina is advancing a strategic realignment towards low-carbon and renewable energy solutions. Building on its established natural gas capabilities, the company is developing an integrated hydrogen energy value chain covering upstream production, midstream storage and distribution, and downstream refuelling infrastructure. In 2025, PetroChina’s brand value reached USD33.9 billion, making it the 12th most valuable brand nationally and 52nd most valuable brand on the global stage according to Brand Finance’s Global 500 2025 report. This achievement reflects the company’s sustained commitment to technological innovation, operational excellence and customer-centric service delivery. Through continuous refinement of brand strategy and proactive global positioning, PetroChina has garnered strong recognition from both domestic stakeholders and international partners. In the natural gas sector, the company achieved a balanced integration of supply security and operational efficiency, recording sales of 287.8 billion cubic metres, a year-on-year increase of 5%, and delivering RMB54.0 billion in operating profits. Furthermore, strategic cooperation agreements with leading domestic and international enterprises have reinforced PetroChina’s brand equity and enhanced its competitive standing within the global energy market.
As the energy sector continues to evolve, PetroChina remains committed to an innovation-led development strategy, with a clear focus on accelerating its green and low-carbon transition. The brand also plans to intensify efforts in the research, development and deployment of key technologies across hydrogen energy, renewable power generation, energy storage, geothermal energy and CCUS, aimed at improving overall energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact. On the commercial front, PetroChina will refine the strategic positioning of its natural gas operations to enhance market responsiveness, improve service delivery and drive sustainable profitability. In parallel, the company will deepen collaboration with international partners to support the long-term stability of cross-border energy projects. Recognising the importance of human capital, PetroChina also plans to strengthen talent development and acquisition initiatives to enhance workforce capabilities and reinforce its competitive edge in the global energy market.
